Cyberonics, Inc. is committed to supporting educational and charitable endeavors that are consistent with the Company’s mission to improve the lives of people touched by epilepsy, depression and other chronic disorders that may prove to be treatable with our patented VNS Therapy™. Examples of activities that would be considered appropriate are those that serve a genuine educational function, an important public health function, benefit society, or demonstrate good corporate citizenship. Cyberonics is also committed to compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as our Business Practice Standards and policies. This website is intended to provide guidance on the types and uses of educational grants and charitable donations that Cyberonics provides, as well as the application procedure. The growing demand for financial support prohibits our accommodation of all requests. Unfortunately, we can not support many worthy requests. Cyberonics assures you that ALL properly submitted grant and donation requests will receive the same consideration for support..

To assist us in evaluating the various requests, the Company asks that you adhere to the guidelines provided in this document. Cyberonics reviews requests for grants and donations on a quarterly basis in accordance with the schedule set forth below. As a general rule, grants will only be considered during the review meeting immediately preceding the quarter in which they occur. In other words, your request for an educational grant in support of a CME event that occurs in June will be considered for approval in February. Grants and donations requested in support of general operations and not tied to a specific event will be considered when the completed request is received. Please note that applications can be submitted at any time, however they will only be considered during the review meeting immediately preceding the quarter in which they occur.

If you have any questions regarding a pending request for an educational grant or charitable donation, please contact the Grant Administrator by email at grants@cyberonics.com. Please note that the Company’s Business Practice Standards and policies prohibit Cyberonics sales and marketing personnel from playing any role in the grant or donation-making process. Sales and marketing personnel can not assist you in submitting your request, nor can they influence the decision to support a request.  

We ask you to remember that we receive thousands of worthy grant and donation requests each year. Unfortunately, we can only support a limited number each quarter. Our inability to support the vast majority of the requests we receive for grants and donations is, in no way, a reflection of Cyberonics’ view of the worthiness of these requests. To the contrary, all of the requests we receive and carefully consider are worthy of support.
